The Sourcing Team annually celebrates International Women’s Day in many varied ways – this year, we helped organise and participate in two main events, one taking place on the eve and the other on the day itself, Wednesday March 8 2017.
#CIPS Fellows: On the eve of #IWD2017, Gill Thorpe, as a Fellow member and on the Fellows Committee, helped to organise and support the CIPS Fellows IWD speakers and panel discussion which was kindly hosted at the offices of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in London.
Key speakers included Oxfam GB, The Equalities Office, EY, UN Women UK, WeConnect International and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer sharing insights and strategies as they spoke about challenges facing women globally and the #BeBoldforChange initiatives taking place in their respective fields to help #makechangehappen.
The event was opened by our Fellows Chairman Shirley Cooper and it was a truly inspiring event. From stories to videos, it brought to life the challenges facing the economic empowerment of women globally.

#DoubletreebyHilltonLondon: Then on the day itself, Gill was a guest at the IWD2017 event organised and hosted by Doubletree by Hilton London Docklands in partnership with Inspirational Development Group.
The invitation was extended through WeConnect International and there were other WBs present, both as guests and sponsors with stands, participating in an inspiring evening of talks centered on #BeBoldforChange and networking over wine and canapés.
